In early October 2015, a group of 48 business and civic leaders from Wichita, KS, visited Greenville, SC, to learn best practices for growth and gain ideas for urban and community innovation.
Wichita is one of several American cities to send leaders to Greenville in recent years to study how the city successfully revitalized its downtown area—creating a centerpiece of the community—and built a strong, diversified economy that has attracted businesses and investors from all over the world.
“If you look at what they’ve done [in Greenville, SC]…,” said Wichita Metro Chamber of Commerce Chairman Jon Rosell, a member of the visiting group. “They’ve had excellent city and county leadership. We’re looking forward to learning how those leaders have been able to be successful for a long time.”
